I never knew I’d cultivate one of my richest friendships during a drunken destination bachelorette trip. That’s how I connected with Hope, sipping a little too much coffee and definitely waaaay too much booze on a girls trip to Nashville. Our first real conversations of painful growth, necessary heart ache, and passionate pursuits out on the the rickety old porch, in the June heat savoring cozy coffee before the heat of the day set in and the rest of the party woke up.

No wonder we connected…we both score as 8’s (The Challenger) on the Enneagram test, and share high D (Dominance) on the DiSC assessment. I’m not sure any ideas (or people!) will walk away from a conversation with the two of us without a few bumps and bruises. And that’s why I love Hope – and why you’re getting a slice inside her heart and her mind. She continues to rise to the occasion when life sends her unexpected twists, turns, and traumas. Hope keeps things fresh, weird, and yes, sometimes inappropriate. I suspect you’ll really come to love her raw stories, candid lessons, and honest reflection as she actively grows in her writing.

Since I retired from teaching hot yoga sculpt a while back, I’ve started telling colleagues and acquaintances that anyone who attended my classes over the years had the privilege of experiencing one of the most real, raw, authentic versions of myself that’s ever existed let alone been put on display. That’s important because I’m intense. We went HARD, and I 1000% scared some people off… but not Bri. Bri was sweating it out with me day in and day out, year after year. And she kept coming back for more. Now, our conversations include a little less yelling, and a few more words than “down”, “up”, and “pulse”.

Bri outwardly displays a hard shell, stern tone, and confident gaze. She’s a strong woman who’s been through some things that have shaped her world view, and given her some extra baggage to sort through. Don’t get hung up on these first impressions, Bri has a heart for people, an eye for beauty, and a mind for growth. Her creativity shines in visual arts, and her determination pulls her into fine tuning her writing skills. She’s on a journey… a deep, raw, painful, and rewarding march towards confidently unveiling the version of herself she’s always wanted to be but never quite knew how to.
